My first visit to Alma, Bukit Mertajam - Frosts

Being a Penang islander, I'm quite hopeless when it comes to the roads in mainland. I'm too used to driving small roads, and the roads at mainland are really wide. On that night, I decided to visit a place called Alma. Along the main road (Jalan Rozhan), I could see AEON Mall under construction on my left, and Tesco on my right. Frosts is situated opposite Tesco Alma. This is almost like a new housing area, with many shoplots, and many signage of DNP developer. Pyramid chocolate cake - I don't find it impressive at all. Satay, but it seems like it's deep fried chicken meat with cheese.  Peanut snow ice - It isn't impressive as well. I was trying to try out a new flavour, but ended up, the peanut butter just didn't go well with the shaved ice. Aurora drink. Ah... very interesting soda drink with 4 different colors of ice cubes. Just like Aurora. I got lost around this area for 1 hour once. I talked about it with some friends t...

[Product review] Cellnique Snail Series - Intensive Hydro Repair Elixir

I have always liked Cellnique products, perhaps, my skin type suits their product range pretty well. Snail secretion/mucin has been widely used in many beauty products. I've seen a lot of products widely sold along myeng dong streets especially face masks during my last trip to Korea and I just got to know that Cellnique has a serum which has a high concentrate of Snail Mucin and Hyaluronic Acid.  This serum is mainly used to regenerate and repair the skin cells, restoring skin to its original healthy state. It also provides ample hydration and enhances moisture retention capacity of skin. A vibrant, firmer, and smoother appearance will be achieved with continued use. Now some technical details that some people may want to know. What is Snail slime? Snail slime is a complex mixture of proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans, glycoprotein enzymes, hyaluronic acid, copper peptides, antimicrobial peptides and trace elements including copper, zincaand iron. Hyaluronic Aci...

A small birthday gathering at Western Spices, Green Hall, Penang

On a usual weekend, I'm quite surprised that this place is packed with customers, despite the fact that there are limited parking lots outside the restaurant. It is situated after Convent Light Street, at Green hall.  Their affordable set lunches are available on weekends.  The staff were very accommodating, as our tables had a baby and smaller children. They were patient to provide baby chairs, hot water, extra cups, plates and utensils and many, many requests by us :( And, the best part was, I requested for a little birthday cake, and they had this with a candle for the birthday girl.  Happy Birthday :) Set lunch comes with corn soup. It was a little watery with strong corn taste, and I'd expect to get a standard thick mushroom soup. Grilled Salmon and Lemon grass chicken with pasta. Since it's an affordable set lunch, don't expect a huge slice of salmon serving. The chicken is deep fried, so if you are a little health conscious,...

Delicious Straits Quay has ceased operations... :( :(

I just found out last month that Delicious, Straits Quay is no longer operating... :( I remembered many, many occasions of going for their English Afternoon Tea set after living social/Groupon published the promotion. I hope they are coming back to Penang, again. And, I remembered there was once, I tweeted about a cake that I wanted and Michael Saxon responded to come by the next time for it.... and again, all these extraordinary customer service is important to keep F&B business going.. Maybe not just f&b, but all types of business...

How to become a Nuffnang Glitterati Member

I have been a Nuffnang member a very long time, and since two years ago, I realized that I turned Non-Glitterati. Advertisement was very low (sometimes, no banners at all) and I was wondering why I was downgraded. I went back to the FAQ and finally realized that I did not remove my old http://www.meimeizoe.com blog that I have stopped maintaining. Finally, I'm switched as a Glitterati member (overnight), but RM0.00 earnings. (Yes, I cashed out yesterday).

Good Friday and Easter

It's Easter weekend. And I was reminded about this song.. At the cross. Jesus died for us at the cross. He shed his blood for us.. In CG last week, we were asked how would we respond to our friends about why we chose this faith, to be a Christian. Despite knowing the fact that He first loved us and died for us, we were reminded to share our basic faith to believe that Jesus died on the cross, and his blood would clean our sins, and that we are no longer sinners, and that we would have eternal life :) You tore the veil You made a way When You said that it is done

The Living Room at Macalister Mansion

Back then, there was no TWG yet in Penang, thus, there are some that would drop by to Liv ing R oom for an afternoon tea.  It was last year when I came and I have not make it a point to blog about it until now.. Very pretty interior and exterior. Well coordinated whites and greens. I was waiting for the food that I ordered, thus, I walked around for some pictures of the place. The open area that connects to the dining room and toilet. (one of these days, I must try out the dinner there at the dining room) Complimentary bread  Salad Soup Salmon Pasta Dessert of the day to pick from the counter The smaller dessert to pick TWG teas :) It's been almost half a year ago that I have forgotten most of the finer details. The service was excellent and the food was good. But, I would like to comment that the staff were very attentive. One of the staff saw that I left my bag on the floor...

P90X3 - Only 30 minutes a day, for 90 days

Ever since I stopped training for my Mt Kinabalu hike, I've gained a lot of body fat and weight, and I'd say, few months ago,  after all the Christmas, New Year and Chinese New year feasting, I was at my fattest moment in my life. Two years ago, I followed p90x for only 3 weeks, as I couldn't achieve the 1.5 hours a day workout. Well, I ended up fast forwarding everything and compressed it to about 40 mins, and I couldn't commit to do it everyday. So, I ended up, randomly picked up some youtube video for 20 mins, whenever I feel like it. A year ago, I tried beach body insanity, but somehow, it was just pure cardio, without focusing on my core muscles. So, it died again. But now, for p90x3, because it's only 30 minutes a day, I'm finally at Week 4, and have lost some weight gained from chinese new year.... and now hoping for miracle results to come true. One word: Awesomeness!

Good Friends Never Bojio

Found this at Pik Nik, Nagore Road in Penang, and this place never stop to amaze me with its food, drinks, crowd, games, environment and all. Their waffle is always good, and not forgetting the fries with wasabi sauce :) Wait a minute, we requested for wasabi sauce and there wasn't any additional charge for that .. :D :D Had a cuppa coffee with a friend whom I knew since primary, and it's just amazes me that we are still friends till now.... and yeah, the bubble says it all, "Good friends NEVER Bojio". I have always treasure my family, friends, colleagues and even strangers who are good samaritans to me. Just the other day at a cinema pop corn counter, someone just offered me a 10% discount voucher. Although it wasn't a lot of $$ that was discounted, it's just how sweet some people are, helping me stretching my ringgit. Many, many other encounters too, colleagues offering food (yes, I tam-chiak), friends giving me Angpows during CNY and blessi...

Facebook is 10!

#facebookIs10 Yeah. It's been 10 yrs. Facebook has changed lives of many. I used to rely a lot on Y!Messenger and MSN (or even skype) to stay in touch friends, but now, looks like facebook has ruled all these messenger softwares. And, back then, we were more popular with Friendster, and I refused to sign up facebook as I never even thought it has turned into one of the major social media tool NOW! It's pretty sad that I gave up on wordpress, and hope not, for blogspot. Well, still the conventional way of writing, as I realised that as the years passed, my memory has failed me badly. It is as though as all my memories were in a flash memory and wiped out after a reboot. Now that I'm putting it down on a hard disk back. In fact, I've lost part of my memories from xanga, multiply and wordpress.... I'm keeping the lookback video in my youtube.

Pavilion Cafe and Homestay at Lebuh Presgrave (Sar Tiao Lor), Penang [review]

There are many cafes and homestays / guest houses / hostels / boutique hotels sprouting in Georgetown Penang that I have lost count of them. Last week, I was privileged to visit a pretty new cafe cum homestay opposite Kwong Wah Jit Poh Press along Lebuh Presgrave, or better known by the locals as Sar Tiao Lor (3rd Road). This is it.  Pavilion Cafe, in a refurbished pre-war house/shoplot. 三禾轩. (Hanyu: San Sui Suen  - I think)  The moment I entered the cafe, I noticed the coffee drip. And, on the walls of the cafe, there are drawings of the Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press....  The interior gave me that 1920s feel. Now, let's see what have we got in Pavilion Cafe.... Crispy Chicken with Jackfruit (RM10.9) Hardly seen any savory dish that comes with Jackfruit, thus, this is interesting for me! Classic Fried Spaghetti with Ham (RM10.9). Similar like the Aglio-olio, it's spicy with ample chili flakes. Taiw...
