Prescription Eyeglasses - Zenni Optical

Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case!

I was at http://zennioptical.com/ and see some interesting things about spectacles.

Details of the $8 prescription:

High quality stylish frame
Thin and Light 1.57 index lens
Anti Scratch Coating
Full UV Protection
Lens edge polishing and beveling
Quality Hard Eyeglass case
Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth
Full Guarantee
And for 1.57 high index
They even have shipping cost:
$4.95 per order

There are some cool frames available, but I doubt there is any branded ones unless of different price.
Prices are as low as $8, but there are some $19, and different frames like titanium that cost about $39.95.

The $8 one:

There are quite a couple of selection of stylist frames but I kind of prefer this one.
As long as we do not have a -10.0 or so, I think it's still alright to have that since the index is 1.57, which is rather reasonable for -4.0 and below.

Kind of not too bad huh?

Over here in Malaysia, one pair of spectacles would cost at least RM300.
As long as I don't get my laser surgery done, I'd still need a pair of spectacles as I can't depend on contact lenses forever.

If I'm over at US, I think I would at least give it a try since the cost of living is so much higher than over here in Malaysia. But then again, the dollar value is higher.
So.. Go to the website now and check it out!!

1 Tim 4

It was an ordinary night (Yes, I'm finally at Leviticus in 2007 BRP).

Then, I dreamt about myself teaching in the children's church and the memory verse came from 1 Tim 4 (should be vs 15-16?)

http://meimeizoe.blogspot.com/2008/01/year-of-realignment.html

Then, I looked back that it was the exact same chapter that the Pastor shared last Sunday. Could it be mere coincidence?

15Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

I really do not know what it means, perhaps, after work, I'd slowly digest them.
While at it, I was explaining to them what a paper could do and asked them to describe the paper. Its shape is rectangular, it can be folded.. and all the other characteristics that we could think of.

Children were given birds as craftwork.
One weird thing was, the small girl, actually spoke that it's very difficult to tell certain things.
She was vague, and it was late and it was closing already.

Word of the Day - Agnostism

In webster it says:

a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god

Many christians who do not have a steady faith very often stray away from God.
It maybe because of peer pressure or the church pressuring themselves.
Sometimes, i do wonder, what happens to them after death?

Vote for your rights

Would dead people able to vote?
Why are still registered as valid voters?
Shouldn't their names be removed in the database once they are pronounced dead?

http://www.spr.gov.my/

Tried key-ing birthdays that starts with 88, 89.
Nobody is 110 or 120 these days.

Big Apple Donuts

I could not comprehend how would RM2/donut has such a long queue at the shopping malls.
Penang's Missy Donut is almost catching flies most of the time.

But, it will soon come to Penang!! (at Jusco BM)

There is a variety of flaovours at the display but not all are there.
Most of the waiters are foreign workers.

CNY Box.
Only half a dozen. It already cost Rm9.50.

The donuts at least are not deep fried.
It's fluffy and it has many flavours (good for me)

Forgive as Jesus Did

"...and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don't let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.
If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will
forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not
forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:12-15 NLT)

God is the Strength

When we face difficulties, I think we often have to remind ourselves about this:

"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in
the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at
peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for
God's wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says
the Lord. On the contrary:
If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.'
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
(TNIV)

"Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.

Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever. "
(TNIV)

Jesus came to Give Life

Something from Tan Soo Inn:

Looking for love?
Jesus says: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34 TNIV)

Looking for significance?
Jesus says: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have
come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10
TNIV)

Looking for immortality?
Jesus says: "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in
me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in
me will never die." (John 11:25-26 TNIV)

Everyone hungers for LOVE.

"Hunger in the midnight, hunger at the stroke of noon
Hunger in the banquet, hunger in the bride and groom
Hunger on the TV, hunger on the printed page
And there's a God-sized hunger underneath the questions of the age."
(Looking East, Jackson Browne)

Jesus said:
"I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and
whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."
(John 6:35 TNIV)

How much would the TOLL Charges be?

When a car is being towed in PLUS Highway, how much would the TOLL charges be for the towed car and truck?
Answer: Class 3 charges (Double the rate)

When a car is being towed in Penang bridge, how much would the TOLL charges be for the towed car and truck?
Answer: Class 5 charges (2.5 times the rate)
Class 5 charges: RM45

If the two vehicles were to pass the toll separately, it is just:
Truck: Rm12
Car: RM5.60

Beer Game

Today, i played Beer Game simulation.

I was with my senior manager being the Distributor.
It's kinda a bit 'pressured' since she kept talking about 'controlling' inventory level.
We only build per order and kept a little buffer for stock..

It seemed like the factory did not give the right inventory to us.
Somewhat, it's always negative backlog. I don't believe it.... How can ler?

And, the trainer gave us 12 chips as the BOH, but from the website, it should be 16?

http://www.beergame.lim.ethz.ch/

The Beer Game is a simulation, in which the players are faced with the following scenario:

The retailer sells barrels of beer to a consumer and orders barrels of beer from the wholesaler, the wholesaler sells barrels of beer to the retailer and orders barrels of beer from the distributor and the distributor sells barrels of beer to the wholesaler and orders beer from the factory (brewery). The factory brews the beer. The beer supply chain is shown above

Players of the game each take on a different role in the supply chain. The roles are the Factory, Distributor,Wholesaler and Retailer. Each position is directly linked, and beer cannot skip the adjacent position. For example, the Wholesaler orders beer from the Distributor, and ships beer to the Retailer.

An important consideration in making decisions is the delay in the movement of beer through the supply chain. It takes four periods to move an order of beer between each player in the supply chain. If during period 3 the Retailer orders some beer, the order arrives at period 4 at the Wholesaler, is in transport between the Wholesaler and Retailer at period 5 and arrives at goods receiving at period 6 and IS available to sell (or in stock) at period 7

For each period of play, every participant follows the same cycle:

1.) The system is updated by the computer where new orders and shipments are received, shipments enroute are advanced, and inventory levels and backorder positions are calculated

2.) The player makes a ordering decision subject to the information available (new orders and inventory)

There are only two costs involved in this simplified version of a logistic supply chain: inventory holding cost ($ 0.50 per barrel and period) and back order costs ($ 1.- per barrel and period) Each team has the goal of minimizing the sum of these costs by balancing the cost of having stock (stock holding cost) with the cost of being out of stock when a customer orders beer (back order cost). The computer keeps track of the costs incurred by each team. At the end of the game, the total game costs for the distribution system is the sum of the four individual participant's total costs.

THE GOAL IS TO MINIMIZE TEAM COSTS

*** Action ***
The game begins with fully-loaded "pipeline" of barrels of beer:
- 16 barrels of beer in each position's stock
- 4 barrels of beer in each position's goods receiving
- 4 barrels of beer in each position's shipping delay
- each position has an initial order for 4 barrels of beer

Each player has a signal to show his status:
- Red means not available or gone
- Yellow means not ready or not yet ordered
- Green means ready or order performed
At the beginning of each new round all signals are set to Yellow

*** Definitions ***
Orders received
This is the demand vor the current period at this position. For the Retailer the demand is determined by the Computer itself. For all positions, this demand reflects an order placed by the downstream position in the supply chain during the previous period.

Backlog
This is the demand that has not been met to date at this position. When a position does not meet demand by shipping barrels of beer, the backlog amount is increased.

Current costs
This is the total cumulative costs for the position

Order
This is the field to insert the order for the actual round for each position

Remaining time
This is the time remaining to order in one period. If no order is made, the computer makes an order for the concerned player

Year of Realignment

I was visiting DUMC last sunday and it's what we learnt:

Passage: 1 Tim 4

RE-alignment:
1) Personal growth
2) Training - equipping us with classes
3) Ministries - areas to serve (skills that God gave)

Areas we can do for Christ:
1. Politics
2. Business
3. Education - Christian University?
4. Media
5. Entertainment/ creative arts
6. Family
7. Science and Technology
8. Sports

Pastor did mentioned that we should b fit (not to feel tired after climbing the two flight of stairs to the upper deck of the Dream centre)

Letter from HELL?

I was browsing some of the videos from godtube.com, and somestimes, i do wonder, if we should be pushy about evangelizing about Christ. And, would this video actually give a false message to christians to continue to be too pushy about their non-believer friends?

Or should we leave a good testimony, and slowly letting them know about our relationship with GOD?

I couldn't help but dissaprove what the friend said.
Come on, there are tonnes of media (books, internet, pamphlets) and evangelistic meetings/rallies for them. Why would they depend on one christian friend?
The message has been well TOLD.
It's really up to the person to believe.
It's really leaving to God's timing.
We've done our part.
We are not TOO busy handling our lives.
We do share.

5 Minute with Gary Chapman

Why Apologize?

In a perfect world, there would be no need to apologize. But in an imperfect world, we cannot survive without them. We are moral creatures. We have a strong sense of right and wrong. When we are wronged, we experience hurt and anger. Something within us cries out for reconciliation when wrongdoing has fractured a relationship. The desire for reconciliation is often more potent than the desire for justice.

Opening the Door
In marriage, domestic turmoil is often rooted in an unwillingness to apologize. For lack of an apology, couples declare war, which can last for years and often ends in divorce. I've wondered if sincere apologies would have changed that sad outcome. You cannot apologize for your spouse's wrongs, but you can apologize for your own. When you do, you open the door to the possibility of forgiveness and you are on the road to reconciliation. There are no healthy marriages without apologies.

Can You Forgive Without an Apology?
If your definition of forgiveness is to release the person to God and release your hurt and anger to God, then you can forgive without an apology. But if by forgiveness you mean reconciliation, then an apology is a necessary ingredient. The Christian is instructed to forgive others in the same manner that God forgives us. How does God forgive us? The Scriptures say that “if we confess our sins,” God will forgive our sins.

You see, we often want our spouse to “just forget about what happened.” We don’t want to talk about it. We don’t want to apologize. We just want it to “go away.” But things don’t just “go away.” God has provided a pattern for human forgiveness, and that pattern requires apologizing for our wrongs.

Learn and Speak a New Language
The art of apologizing can be learned! Recently, I released a book with Dr. Jennifer Thomas titled The Five Languages of Apology. I think you will find it a life changing book. What we have discovered in our research is that there are five basic aspects of an apology. I call them the five languages of apology.

The key to good relationships is learning the apology language of your spouse and being willing to speak it. Perhaps you’ve been saying “I’m sorry,” when your spouse needs to hear “I was wrong.” When you speak the primary apology language of your spouse, you make it easier for him or her to genuinely forgive you. When you fail to speak their language, it makes forgiveness difficult because they are not sure you are genuinely apologizing.

Remember the Five Languages of Apology?

# 1 - Expressing Regret
# 2 - Accepting Responsibility
# 3 - Making Restitution
# 4 - Genuinely Repenting
# 5 - Requesting Forgiveness

Jeff Dunham

Someone shared this video to me.. I don't really like it but some may...

I really hate it when...

I managed to reserve opportunites..
but due to slow internet connection, that I failed to SUBMIT that!!!!!!

Word of the day: Ephod

It's pronounced as "Eh-ford".
It's like a vest/apron thing for high priest during Exodus time, and I kept coming across with that word.

And now, I just realised that a tunic is used in the OT days also. :)
I thought I'd only see that in FOREVER21 or something.

HSBC Penang

HOoray..
HSBC Bayan Baru is shifting to QB.. 28 Jan 2008 onwards.

another reason to hang out in QB. :D

Celebrity Fitness

A diamond-member friend reserved her monthly pass for me.
She's selling at Rm70.

Not a bad deal if i'm looking for short GYM commitments.

I guess I've been thinking too much about it that I started having dreams about the 'new celeb fitness'.

When I first went there 2 years back, I find that it's quite interesting.
New equipment.
Foreign Instructors.
Pretty gals all dressed up.
In my mind, it's all great stuff.

It was a holiday (perhaps, thaipusam or weekend) that I decided to drive there early.
House was on renovation (whose house -> i don't know).
To access to the place, I had to walk in with some sort of device detecting my identification.
Since there is no badge ID, I believe that there is some sort of chip or device detecting me.
Then, everything was dark, that I had to walk in faith in dark space.
I soon reached the receptionist area where they had the registration.
The sad thing was my friend was not around to provide me the pass.
They sort of had my old data and it was manually written on a form.
I started waiting since there wasn't any classes.
I entered another area where there is sort of life simulation game (just like what we see in the Science centres).

Weird huh?
When am I supposed to go there!!?

Good Japanese Food

For about Rm50, you'd be able to enjoy multiple choices of Japanese cuisine.
If we dine before 6.30pm, there will be additional 10%.

Service is so-so.
Just try to flirt and wink at the restaurant manager or the waiters
(the waitress? save it .... they aren't that friendly..)

Desserts would be better during weekends but during weekends, there is time limit.
Weekday -> only one scoop of ice cream.
Weekdays -> no time limit, so, we could eat from 6.30pm till late.
(but i won't do that.... I'd rather let my tummy have some rest after 8pm though)

Overall, it's really not-too-bad for a cheaper deal of Japanese buffet.

Long spread of variety, salmon, roll, tempura, soup, fried stuff
Mostly done.
Sze chuan soup, fried stuff seafood (squid, fish.. etc)

Lunch @ Ben's Diner

I shared lunch with the other colleague... and Ben's diner is quite a relaxing and quiet place to have a chat since the place is not crowded. :)
Food ranges mostly from Rm12 onwards.

3 things that nothing can hide

A friend of mine emailed this that there are three things in life that we can never hide:

1. Sun
2. Moon
3. Truth

The truth prevails.
John 8:32 says.."Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

I always thought that the verse means, if the truth is been revealed, we would be justified, like a resolved court case.

It seems like, the truth is knowing who the real Father (our God) is, and knowing God will set us free from sin (the devil).
God will set us free that we are no longer in darkness but in the light of the world.

I will build my church (Men)
I will build my church (Women)
And the gates of hell (Men)
And the gates of hell (Women)
Shall not prevail (Men)
Shall not prevail (Women)
Against it (All) (Repeat)
So you powers in the heavens above bow down!
And you powers on the earth below bow down!
And acknowledge that Jesus, Jesus
Jesus is Lord, is Lord

LAP-BAND System

I personally have not heard of this until I started PPP.com and tried searching in google.com
More information can be found at http://www.lapband.com/.

Oh well, I'm thankful that I'm NOT qualified for the lap-band system surgery.

Based on your BMI, you do not qualify for LAP-BAND® System surgery at this time. But, if you’d like us to stay in touch with you, and receive our informative newsletter, please provide us with your email address. If you are concerned about your privacy, please see our Privacy Policy.

Lolz. I'm glad.

Instead of doing extreme dieting and exercising or even weight loss pills, the lap-band system is offerring a better option on permanent weight loss. In a way, we would tend to gain back to our original weight if we are not controlling it well.

According to the website, the weight-loss (bariatric) surgery could actually help in several ways:

+ Restrictive—reduces the amount of food the stomach can hold but doesn’t interfere with normal digestion of food and nutrients.
+ Malabsorptive—shortens the digestive tract to limit the number of calories and nutrients that can be absorbed.
+ Combination (gastric bypass) —restricts the amount of food the stomach can hold and reduces the number of calories absorbed by altering the digestive tract.

Wow.. how they do that? I don't know honestly.

Being fat not only look ugly, but it will have many health reasons such as diabetes, high blood pressure and etc.

Year 2008 - A year of hope

I had very funny feeling about year 2008.
I have a very fresh HOPE as compared to the previous years.
The Hope that I could feel JOY in my heart.

As I was reading Luke 23 on Jesus' Crucification, I was reading the verse again and again.
Verse 34: Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing".

In my younger days, I was very much influenced by the HKTVB cantonese kungfu fighting series. Most of it were about different groups of people fighting for fame and power. Even the GOOD ones were revengeful for the past and the presence.

But, as I started my christian walk, I slowly began to learn about FORGIVENESS and NOT To take grudges or being revengeful.

Jesus was forgiving.
Even at his last moments, he asked GOD the father to forgive the men who were crucifying him (partly because he knew that he had to go through all these sufferings to save us from our sins)

And then again.
How about us now?
Should we suffer like Jesus?

People were rude to me.
People were accusing me.
People were taking advantage of me.

Yet, I forgave them.
In fact, I have learnt not to be mad at them, for they REALLY do not know what they were doing.

Also, the part about the crucification that Jesus would take those who BELIEVES him as the Messiah to heaven. Even at the very last moment, the criminal who was crucified together with Jesus asked him to remember him into his kingdom.

If I ever had a baby girl, I would name her "FAITH".. or nickname her "FAY". It's the faith that we strongly believe in Him. And, my baby boy, maybe "Ian"... which means. God is gracious.

It's been a week..... since I blogged

I recalled the time when I had my hands stitched, and after a series of events that happened, I believed that it was from God.

It would be rather impossible for a person to get wounded so badly by washing a bowl.

But, with that. It really tested my faith. My patience. My endurance. My job. My innocence. My relationships. My everything.

Many people always say that God always put us in situations so that we'd mature stronger in the Lord. I remembered once, that I got terrible tremendous fear sleepless night, that I began to continue my Bible Reading Plan 2007 that I stopped in Feb (Exodus.. )

I hope I'd be finishing the whole book some day. :)

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream

I was given a free sample from my friend since the skin on my face was peeling.
Seems like my face felt more moistured and balanced and flufflier with water.
Not too bad, but I think i better finish off the other products i have .

That's a sign of GOOD NEW YEAR!
I love 2008.
Many Good things will happen.
I strongly believe that.
I'm happy and satisfied.
I love today.
I'm lovin it.

Finding the Right Life Partner

Very often, I was always questioned the reasons of my singleness.
Is it because I'm being a pure fussy pot who look for perfect husbands and perfect marriages?

Perhaps, they have not known of my previous short relationships that didn't worked well.
Perhaps, I did not list down carefully what kinda life partner I really want.
I mean, List the ones that I think is important.

I think, for those who are still singles, it's important for us to LIST down the IMPORTANT criterias we want in our life partners, and start earnestly praying and fasting about it.

Let's start doing it TODAY!!
staring 01/01/08....

Happy New Year 2008

It's 2008! And it's a brand new year where there are new hopes and beginning.
Let's bury the past and usher the new 2008!

Christians always start their new year with God.
Sometimes, i do feel that I'm a luke-warm christian (neither here or there.. the in-between).
But, I feel that as long as I'm still in the church organization, and still serving God whole-heartedly, God will always allow me to grow.

Pastor's sermon that we should look into in 2008:
1. Holy Dissatisfaction - relationship with fellow believers?
2. Spiritual Discipline - read your bible pray everyday. :D
3. Time waster - OBVIOUSLY, going ONLINE for LONG hours. I should cut down on this
4. Area of Life to change
- leaving the hurts of the past behind and move FORWARD - giving a new meaning towards it instead - i always feel that I've learnt something from the past troubles/experiences
5. Resolution - LOSE MORE WEIGHT, start going to a GYM - exercise at least 3 times a week, start focusing in my CAREER, take care of my FACE - it's sagging!!, start MOULDING my character.. so many things.. so little time.
thus, we need to prioritize.

How about you? :)
